It was on January 26, 1975 that the Soka Gakkai International (SGI) was inaugurated at the First World Peace Conference on the island of Guam.

Commemorating the day Josei Toda, second president of the Soka Gakkai made an impassioned speech in frail health to inspire 6,000 Soka Gakkai youths to continue the Soka Gakkai legacy.

It was on May 3, 1951, that Josei Toda was inaugurated as the second president of Soka Gakkai. May 3 is also “Soka Gakkai Mother’s Day,” symbolizing the vital role that women play within the organization.

It was the height of the Cold War when nuclear weapons could have destroyed our destiny. Josei Toda, second president of Soka Gakkai made a key declaration on this day.

October 2 is celebrated within Soka Gakkai as World Peace Day, marking a key milestone in the international development of Nichiren Buddhism, with its goal of contributing to building lasting peace throughout the world.

November 18 is the anniversary of the establishment of the Soka Gakkai.
